Elvis gives his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's game

Another lockdown, another long break and another need to remotivate and reengage his relatively new team following their last defeat to Charlbury in October. #AUWFC caught up with Under 18s Manager Danial Knight for the latest ahead of tomorrow's game against Kidlington.

On keeping the team motivated over lockdown 2.0
"First and foremost the team is so glad to be back together and was able to train on Wednesday evening to shake off any rust after not playing for around six weeks. Also credit to the girls as they were staying motivated during lockdown and going out for runs and the few Zoom calls we had to talk about things and how we are going to push forward and it was a excuse for me to get the tactics board out! A massive thank you to Tee from the ladies team for sending the girls daily workouts"

What he has been doing with the spare time
"I have been busy with my own little things looking back on our games we have already played and looked at what things we could do better and things we are doing really well, and bringing these into little meetings we have had on Zoom, as we all want to improve as players also as coaches"

The current fixture schedule
"Coming back into the season with the new fixture schedule is a little confusing as there are teams we haven’t played yet and now we have to play teams we have already played once. Its going to be a tough three weeks for the squad as the only loss we have is against Charlbury who again we play in three weeks time, but with six players coming back from injury is key for us to avenge the loss"

Squad update
"The squad to coming back nicely, only good thing about this lockdown is that it has allowed players to come back from injury. Currently we have Lily, Megan and Shaz out who hopefully will have all be back in the new year. But apart from that we have Beth, Abbie, Rosie, Micheala, Jaz and Leanne all back from injury"

On Kidlington
"Game against Kidlington is going to be a tough one I believe especially after no games or training for the past 6 weeks, we got to gel again as a team remember how we conduct ourselves on the pitch, also got to think that the girls last game was against Charlbury and so that has been in back of their minds. However I believe in the girls as soon as we are on the pitch playing football again we will be fine and be able to kick on.

Tomorrow's game kicks off at 10.30 at the Northcourt.
