Originally formed around a core of players from Hagbourne United, the Devs enjoyed considerable success, including back-to-back league titles in North Berks Division One and winning OSL Division One. A number of players have been central to that journey throughout and have played an important part in establishing the team within the club.

With many of that group now moving on to fresh challenges, this is the right time to take a step back and build the next stage of the team around its original purpose: creating a genuine pathway for young players to develop and progress within Abingdon United.

As the club works towards a new pitch, develops stronger links with junior and youth football, and continues to support an ambitious first team, creating the right environment for young players is an important part of its long-term plans.

The coming year gives us the opportunity to put that structure in place properly, with the aim of bringing the Development team back with a clear identity, a positive development environment and a pathway that supports both young players and the future of the club.
