We can confirm that United Development players Evie Pearce, Mia Biddle and Charlotte Bigmore will be leaving Abingdon United this summer, as they prepare for their university studies elsewhere.
Defenders Pearce and Biddle have been long-standing members of Jon Ward and Paul Biddle's squad, stemming back ten years to their years at Cumnor Minors. The pair have been at Abingdon United since their group joined the Club in 2023.
Evie made 39 appearances in all competitions for United across two years, and played in the Chairman's Cup Final for United, which saw the Development team lift the trophy under the lights in Beaconsfield.
She said on departing the club: "It’s sad to be leaving Abingdon United Development, it’s been a fun couple of years with amazing support from our coaches and friendships I'll keep for a lifetime.
"I couldn’t be happier to have had the opportunity to play not only as Abingdon United but also with the same coaches for ten years."
Whilst not available for the final, Mia Biddle played in the Chairman's Cup campaign. The full back made 30 appearances in all competitions for The Yellows.
She said: "I've loved it. I wouldn't have still been playing if I didn't.
"The main reason I come is for the friendships as well as the football. From the start I've loved it with Jon and my dad. It's always been about everyone having fun and that's what I like.
“I’ve had an incredible time with Cumnor and more recently with Abingdon where it’s been a pleasure playing for them. I’ve enjoyed some amazing memories that I’ll cherish forever."
Last season's Development number 9 Charlotte Bigmore signed for the Club in summer 2024. A record breaking season would see the striker score 21 goals in 21 games, finishing the campaign as joint third top scorer across all the Southern Region Leagues, and scoring twice in the Chairman's Cup Final to put her name in Abingdon United's history books.
She said: "I’ve loved my time at Abingdon this last year, the team have been so welcoming and I couldn’t have asked for better coaches than John and Paul.
"Winning the Chairman’s Cup was an amazing way to end an incredible season and it’s a night I will remember forever!"
Development Team Coach Jon Ward said on the trio leaving: "Evie and Mia have been with Paul and I for a good ten years. They both joined when they were about eight years old and have been a key part of the team ever since.
"The first eight years were at Cumnor where they enjoyed huge success, and the two transition years that we’ve had over Abingdon United Development moving from grassroots football to ladies football which is a huge step for these girls but they have conducted themselves beautifully throughout.
"They are a wonderful pair of young ladies and it’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of coaching them and getting to know them and their families over this over this period , with their mindsets I am absolutely certain that they will succeed in which ever field they choose.
"We first heard about Charlotte Bigmore from Mia who played in a school tournament and came home and told Paul that she just seen this most amazing striker in a school tournament, so we made some enquiries and went to watch her in a school match (with the blessing of Beth Hawtin) and we saw the talent that was there.
"She has come in to tier six of the women’s game and has been an absolute sensation. She has got one thing that we can’t coach which is pace. She has got pace abundance but not only that she’s completely coachable. She listens to everything you say and tries to implement it. Her goal tally speaks for itself self and is right up there with the highest scores in the league. She has been an absolute pleasure to coach and I have no doubt that Charlotte will succeed in whichever path she takes."
Paul Biddle said: "After ten years with us, our dependable and consistent full backs Mia and Evie are leaving us as they start University. Also leaving for Uni is Charlotte, who has been a goal scoring revelation for us.
"All three are lovely girls who will be greatly missed by us all. We wish wish them all the luck in the world. Thanks for the memories girls."
We thank all three for their significant contribution to a record breaking season for the football club, and wish them well for the future.
