Her Game Too Dedicated Fixture - Sunday 27th April

Her Game Too Dedicated Fixture - Sunday 27th April

Abingdon United WFC16 Apr - 17:44

We can now reveal our full plans for our dedicated Her Game Too fixture, which is just around the corner.

Our final game of the season against Keynsham Town is a dedicated Her Game Too fixture, on Sunday 27th April, where we'll be helping to spread the message of Her Game Too and all the incredible work they do for women and girls in sport.

Her Game Too were founded in 2021, dedicated to tackling sexism and promoting gender equality in the world of sport, and striving to create an inclusive environment.

Their mission is to raise awareness of the issues women face in football, and to celebrate female fans, players and professionals.

Abingdon United WFC partnered with Her Game Too in December 2024, as the club strives to create more opportunities both on and off the pitch for women and girls at the football club, and in doing so creating a safe and welcoming environment throughout.

As we approach our first ever dedicated Her Game Too fixture, we want to outline the different ways we're raising awareness about Her Game Too and their campaign.

Firstly, we're calling on youth teams from across the Oxfordshire community to get involved. Many are already coming along to celebrate the importance of women and girls across the county, including our own Abingdon United Youth. The next generation are at the forefront of our vision at Abingdon United, both on and off the field.

Our Abingdon United Girls U10s will be the mascots for the day of the game, walking out with players as they take to the field. The players and mascots will have a photo whilst holding a Her Game Too flag, showing their support of the campaign. Other members of our more senior Abingdon United squads will also be in attendance.

There will be opportunities to have photos with our players, including in our Abingdon United x Her Game Too selfie frame, which you will see more of ahead of the game on our social media accounts.

You may have seen Her Game Too logos across The Northcourt in recent times. We have a banner up directly in front of the substitutes benches, with a scarf also up in our Northcourt Bar. This will be joined by more information about Her Game Too in other forms on the day.

Unfortunately, sexism, discrimination and harassment still happens in society. Whilst we are striving to make The Northcourt safe and inclusive, there are ways of reporting incidents that you may witness. This can be done online here and on the Kick It Out or Her Game Too website, or in person on the day of the game where it will then be reported. Play your part in helping us to ensure football remains a game for all.
