United's Women are back in action tomorrow afternoon promoted Rovers.

League action returns to The Northcourt tomorrow, as newly promoted Bristol Rovers visit Oxfordshire in the FA Women's National League Division One South West.

Abingdon come into this game after two positive league performances so far in this campaign.

Mimi Hodges' goal against Bridgwater United claimed our first three points of the season in the opening weekend of the FAWNL, before a last minute winner from Moneyfields decided a close game between Moneys and Paul Corrie's side.

This weekend, they face Bristol Rovers, who promoted to the FAWNL system, and they're looking to make an impact.

However, it's been a disappointing start to the season for The Gas. A 5-0 loss to title favourites AFC Bournemouth was followed by defeat in the FAWNL Cup midweek against Gwalia United, meaning Rovers will be in search of a positive result tomorrow afternoon.

Pre-Match Thoughts - Sam Froud

This weekend will see a return to the touchline for First-Team Coach, Sam Froud.

He gave his thoughts ahead of tomorrow's game.

Froud said: "I know it’ll be a tough game, Bristol Rovers are coming up into this division with a lot of momentum after their brilliant season last year.

"They’ve recruited really well and I know they will finish this season in a strong position so they’ll be a really tough test and I’m sure it’ll be a good contest

"It will be one not to miss out on at the Northcourt to see two good teams go at it once again!"

"Hearing how the girls have been performing during my time away has been so pleasing to hear. It sounds they are rising to the challenge of the National League well once again and I’m looking forward to another opportunity to do just that this weekend.

"It’s also an opportunity to take what the team learnt from Wednesday’s game against a good Oxford side and put that into our game this weekend."

Player's Thoughts - Nell Boxall

This season's captain Nell Boxall has played every minute so far in this campaign, and is pleased with the start that United have made this season.

Boxall said: "I think we’ve had a really solid start to the season.

"Our two league performances have been excellent, with three important points to start the season away at Bridgwater and a fantastic performance against Moneyfields last Sunday, which we were so unlucky to not pick up a point or three in.

"Despite our cup defeat midweek against Oxford United, the mood within the team is really positive and the belief about the way we are playing and what we can do this season feels stronger than ever.

"We’re really looking forward to being back at The Northcourt again this Sunday for the test against Rovers who we know will be a tough team."

Having been an integral part of the Club for several years now, Boxall was named captain once again for 2024/25, something she is both proud of an excited about.

She said: "Being made captain again for this season is a huge privilege. To lead the girls out each week is something I’ll never take for granted, but I think this team is made up of leaders which we show all over the pitch.

"I’m one of the more ‘experienced’ players, and so I try to utilise this in supporting the incredible young talent we’ve been lucky enough to bring through this season and set examples on and off the pitch.

"I’m genuinely really excited for what’s to come for the rest of the season as there is so much potential in this group of players."
