Abingdon United Women face Oxford United Women tonight in the FA Women’s National League Cup Determining Round, in a repeat of last season’s tie.
Paul Corrie’s side come into tonight’s game on the back of a positive performance against a strong Moneyfields side, despite a 1-0 loss at The Northcourt on Sunday.
Tonight’s opponents Oxford United were victorious at the weekend, beating Plymouth Argyle 3-1 away from home.
After being 1-0 down at the break, goals from Zoe Barratt, Leah Burridge and Vitaliia Budaieva ensured that Sam Rose’s side took all three points in Devon.
The last time Abingdon United and Oxford United met was at the same stage of tonight’s competition, with this evening’s visitors coming out on top.

Pre-Match Thoughts – Paul Corrie
United have displayed two very good performances in their opening two games of the season.
Tonight, Head Coach Paul Corrie is hoping that the town can come to support the girls against our tier three opponents.
Corrie said: “Under the lights of Abingdon United, there's no better setting for a local derby.
“Facing Oxford United Women in the League Cup is a challenge we’re ready to meet head-on. This is more than just a match, it’s a battle for local pride.
“We hope to see our supporters turn out in full force to create an electric atmosphere and cheer us on in what promises to be a competitive and thrilling evening of football.”
The Players Thoughts – Charlotte Deeley
Former Oxford United defender Charlotte Deeley played her first game of the season on Sunday, after recently returning from injury.
After a good battle against Moneys on Sunday, Deeley is hoping United can use the positives from that game ahead of tonight’s cup tie.
She said: “I think the game against Moneyfields showed how resilient and capable we are as a team. The new additions have been absolutely class & have really contributed to our successes.
“The way we have gelled as a team this season on & off the pitch has been absolutely superb and nothing alike I’ve experienced before. We were so unlucky to not be able to take any points off Moneys as we played absolutely superbly, but we’ll catch them on the bounce I’m sure.
“The atmosphere on the pitch, the work rate & togetherness really shone through for me on Sunday & that is a credit to the team as this only results in a boost in confidence for us leading into that Oxford United game under the lights.
“We know they are going to be a tough opponent, but I believe we are now a tough opponent & we will battle them right to the final whistle that’s for sure.
“We are at home under the lights with a Cup game opportunity & I’m sure we can rise to the occasion. The ongoing support from the fans, player’s, friends & family this season already has been exceptional & we aspire for this to carry over into the next game. We’ve shown we can battle, work hard & compete and I believe we are prepared for the challenge - both games played so far have demonstrated that.
“I’m personally really looking forward to the game & I know the team are buzzing too!
“Bring on the game & bring on yet another performance & result that we can be proud of.”
