#AUWFC open up the Southern Region Premier campaign this Sunday with a trip down to Hampshire as Thorpe's squad look to continue the winning ways.

Here's everything you need to know about our opposition as well as words from the gaffer James Thorpe.

The Opposition
Warsash Wasps Football Club is one of the largest community clubs in Hampshire and we could find records back to 2012-13 season where the women's side won the Hampshire County League Division 3 before making their way through the tiers of the football league. Currently managed by Frankie Lanham, the Wasps finished 5th in the Southern Region Premier last season recording some very good results.

United will be Warsash's first game of the main campaign but they will start this campaign without last season's top scorer Megan Fox who managed 35 goals in 27 games last season but looking at the socials they did manage to retain a few of their squad.

The two sides have never met.

Squad Update
Captain Abbie Smith and Karima Elouath are unavailable this week whereas new signings Olivia Day and Suzie Maton are not eligible to play. Rosie McCabe returns from her travels and Thorpe has a relatively injury free squad to pick from.

The Gaffer
"I thought the Brentford performance was very promising, it took us 10 minutes to settle down but from then we controlled the match and looked sharp considering it was out first game for a couple of weeks

"There is still plenty to work on and we won't be dropping off and this week training we were able to look at more how we will play this season. Brentford were a good young side who I'm sure are a better side than the result suggested and I wish them and their staff well for the season

"The FA Cup is a focus when it comes around however now we have a massive double header against Warsash over the next week and the concentration is fully on them

"Karima's injury is hopefully not as bad as first thought but will assess when she is back from holiday and we welcome Rosie back from her travels this week too

"Really pleased to sign both Suzie and Olivia who have been training with us. Suzie hasn't played for a while but has shown in training that she is very capable and will offer us another defensive option. Olivia has been training with us all summer and has real potential and more importantly is a another product of our partnership with Abingdon Youth although she will be playing youth football for Grove this season she will continue to train with us and possibly feature

"Warsash finished mid table last season and had some very good results, we will have to be 100% right as we will in every game in this league to get a result. We are all absolutely buzzing to get started, we've had a brilliant preseason and are all looking forward to the next nine months"

You can catch the game on Sunday 2pm kick off at Warsash Wasps Sports and Football Club, New Road, Warsash, SO31 9UH. Spectators are encouraged to use Osborne Road on their sat navs to locate the car park.
