MATCH PREVIEW| Abingdon United WFC v Ascot United WFC
The Yellows bid to reach the final of the Berks & Bucks FA Women's Senior Cup again

Location: Wantage Town FC, Alfredian Park, Manor Road, Wantage, Oxfordshire, OX12 8DW
Date: Saturday, 15th February 2026 — Berks & Bucks FA Women's Senior Cup again
Kick-off: 14:00

Abingdon United WFC host Ascot United WFC in the Semi-Final of the Berks & Bucks FA Women's Senior Cup this Sunday.
Abingdon United reached the final for the 1st team in their history 3 years ago, where they met a very tidy MK Dons who were just too good on the day.
Manager Chris Smith was on the coaching staff that day and with MK Dons occupying half the other Semi-Final, there is a chance for a repeat but before that is even a thought, Ascot will do everything they can to make sure they are the ones walking out at Finals day

Competition So Far
Ascot United WFC
Ascot started their campaign in the last 16 against a rebuilding Reading FC.
Only a 15th minute Kate Fox goal separated the side but it was enough to book a date with New Bradwells St. Peters
That proved another close encounter as the teams went into the break 1-1 but again, up stepped Kate Fox to fire home 10 mins after the break to put Ascot into the Semi-Final

Abingdon United WFC
Abingdon United were handed a bye in the 1st round as Milton United were unable to field a team in what has been a tough season.
Quarter finals saw the Yellows travel to an extremely in-form Wycombe Wanderers, who had held FA Women's National League side Bridgwater United, to a 1-1 draw.
An Erin Hartigan goal cancelled out a Jess Watkins penalty to end the tie in another stalemate. Maisy Moore becomes the star of the show to allow Poppy Wannell to fire home her penalty and win the tie.

Preparation & Build-Up
This fixture comes at an important juncture for both squads. Ascot have the luxury of having one of the other surfaces in the league that will allow them to play every week, and they have really built momentum. 3 wins from 5 with 2 losses against 2 of the top 4 team in the league means they come with form and match sharpness
Abingdon United go into the fixture with a bucket load of confidence though, currently 6th in the league and with 3 games in hand on the 2 teams above them, they will look to build on the recent form with 4 wins and 1 loss in their last 5 games.
Abingdon United travelled to Ascot United in December and came away with a clean sheet and 2 goals. The performance was part of a real purple patch for them. Having only played once since then in the league, means they are technically unbeaten since that game but since then, Ascot (and others) have had multiple fixtures

History & Head-to-Head
History goes a long way back with these 2 clubs with Ascot United pushing Abingdon United all the way in the 2022/23 season but this is the 1st team that the team have met in a Semi-Final and only the 2nd time since Ascot became a T4 side, as mentioned, Abingdon United was successful so Ascot will look to right that wrong, whilst AUWFC will want to get back at it and continue the form

Manager’s Thoughts
United’s manager Chris Smith said in his pre-match notes:
“This competition holds a place in me. My 1st big final back in 2023 and it was nice to be part of the Abingdon United side that got there but last year, this competition was the 1st game that I was solely in charge and it provided me with a rude awakening so I almost want to win this as much as anything else. It's a great competition and there are still some wonderful teams in it. It will be nice to get back out there and to see Andy and Ascot again”

Note
There will be refreshments on the day. Parking is extremely tight. Please feel free to park across the road from the entrance if needed and walk down.

Updates
As always, AUWFC will be updating their X account throughout the game for those that cannot attend the game so please keep an eye out for them
